V's lie at the core of all ethical leadership. There must be

Uncommon
leaders appeal to what is best in us. Their qualities of

vitally of heart. Uncommon leadership requires an inspiring
vision, because in our best moments we want to pursue a goal
born not of shallow self-interest but of compassionate
wisdom. Uncommon leadership demands humanizing values,
because in our best moments we want to make not the
acquisition of things but the service of persons our
unrivaled priority. Uncommon leadership involves steadfast

Spirituality
and Religion in an Era of Change
As
we enter the 21st century, we shall see an
ever-accelerating change in every aspect of our our
life, with unimaginable technological
advances in communication, life-expectancy, and travel.
How will institutional religions relate to one another and
to the perennial spiritual needs of humankind? Will they
converge into one "mega-religion" or will they
break up into smaller sects? How will people satisfy their
need for spiritual depth and personal transcendence?
Will religion as we have known it simply adapt to the new
challenges, or will it perhaps disappear altogether?
Dr. George explores the developments that most likely
await us in the future.
- To
grasp the impact of technological change already
upon us

religion

collaboration among the great world religions and
all persons who seek spiritual fulfillment
The
Pursuit of Personal Integrity
How
do we earn the trust and loyalty of our associates? Is it
still realistic for us to compete effectively in today's
business world without forfeiting our ethical principles?
We are presently going through an acute moral crisis, from
insider trading to unscrupulous politics, from the
subversion of the public good to deliberate misinformation
and even perjured testimony. It seems that some of our
competitors are only too ready to make money despite the
demands of ordinary justice and honesty. Are we, however,
determined never to compromise our conscientious ideals no
matter what the cost in terms of material gain or personal
advantage? In this presentation, it explores the
indispensable guidelines for achieving personal integrity.

confront the ethical challenge of today's
marketplace
- To
appreciate the role of character in successful
leadership

integrity

George
Saint-Laurent has written Spirituality and
World Religions: A Comparative Introduction
as a pioneering study on the inner meaning of the
world's major religions. He explores how believers
may find in each of them a guide to enhance their
lives, so long as they are totally committed to the
tenets of their faith. The book is at its best when
it presents insights into the relationship between
God and humans, which the great religious traditions
promote in their several ways. |
