Linnda Durré
Linnda Durré, Ph.D., a national speaker, published author, magazine and newspaper columnist, television and radio talk show host, and a licensed psychotherapist since 1978, received her B.A. in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, in 1970, and her M.A. in 1975 and her Ph.D. in 1977 in Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego.
She was a research assistant at Stanford University, working on the national evaluation of Head Start. She has three elementary teaching credentials and has taught and lectured grades from nursery school to graduate school. She is an artist, art therapist, and former art teacher. She was an adjunct professor at Rollins College , Winter Park, Florida since 1997, teaching both Life Span Development and Life Transitions, a course she designed.
She consults to attorneys and is qualified as an expert witness in the areas of family counseling, child custody, sexual harassment and discrimination, and sexual abuse by therapists. Her 400-page doctoral dissertation and research in the latter area has been cited to pass legislation in several states.
Dr. Durré consults and speaks to businesses, corporations, agencies, non-profit organizations and companies on policy and procedure, values and goal clarification, communication skills, stress and time management, conflict resolution, personality disputes, team building, job satisfaction, diversity training, and sex discrimination and harassment.
She is a sports consultant to high school and college students, as well as amateur and professional athletes, concerning fitness and peak performance, identifying and eliminating negative messages, and dealing with fame from coaches, siblings, family, parents, teachers, and others. She has worked with athletes in the NFL, NBA, NHL, baseball, golf, tennis, and swimming.
She hosted and co-produced two live call-in TV shows: "Ask The Family Therapist," on America's Health Network, a national cable TV station at Universal Studios, Orlando, associated with the Mayo Clinic; and "Personal Success Hotline with Dr.
Durré ," on PBS. On WDBO radio in Orlando, she hosted and co-produced, "The Dr. Linnda
Durré Show," and "Let's Talk with Dr. Linnda Durré," in New York.
She has written several children's books, is a published author in the anthology, "On Love and Loving", had her own newspaper column, "Head Lines," in NY, and was a magazine columnist for Arts and Understanding Magazine (A & U), Orlando Leisure Magazine, Holistic Health News, and other publications. Her upcoming book, "Great
Relationships:™ How to Find Them and How to Keep Them", is the basis for the workshops she conducts for couples and singles.
Additionally,
Linnda sold a TV series to Aaron Spelling and was admitted to the Writers Guild of America, and was also admitted to AFTRA and ASCAP. She has written five screenplays and three plays and was accepted into Edward Albee's Master Class in
playwriting.
Her volunteer work has included: Harbor House, the Center Against Domestic Violence, Winter Park Library; coordinator of the Women's Counseling Referral Service, New Jersey State Diagnostic Center, Love and Sex Addiction Hotline, Cocaine Hotline, Strong on Self-Defense, Women's Business Exchange; Mentor Programs at four different high schools; and local coordinator for Bill Moyers' "Healing and the Mind," on PBS.
Some of her past and present listings and memberships include: Mensa International, American Psychological Association, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, Writers Guild of America, World's Who's Who of Women, World's Who's Who of Intellectuals, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in La Jolla, Outstanding Young Women of America, National Board of Certified Counselors, and Who's Who of Human Service Professionals.
Dr. Durré has spoken to hundreds of groups and given interviews on
60 Minutes, Oprah, The Today Show, The O'Reilly Factor, Donahue, Sally Jessy Raphael, People Are Talking, The Home Show, Hour Magazine, The Home and Family Show, Disney Channel, Good Day Orlando, Inside Tampa Bay, AM South Florida; NPR, PBS, CBS, ABC, NBC
and Fox News.
