About Mort
Crim
It's
time to hear some good news about ourselves and our world...and
Mort Crim is the man to deliver it. In a culture that often
celebrates the negative and sensational, Mort sees solid reasons
for optimism. Mort Crim is the creator and voice of the
award-winning radio series “Second Thoughts,” airing
on more than 700 radio stations worldwide. The program's
ninety-second motivational essays reflect reflecting Crim's
belief that the world needs a break from the violent and the
weird as exploited in much of mainstream news media. He inspires
with humor and personal anecdotes, emphasizing
his belief in the positive aspects of human nature.
Motivational
Speaker:
To an increasingly
hassled and frustrated society, Mort Crim delivers perspective,
optimism and hope. In a world filled with negative messages,
Mort's speeches are about solutions, triumphs, faith and common
sense philosophy which strikes a chord: He's in demand by
Fortune 500 companies, as well as professional associations,
business meetings, and charitable events.
His message has been proven just as popular on campuses and at
conventions, where Mort's humor and "can-do" attitude
leaves them cheering! He draws on his knowledge of the human
condition gained from his over 30 years of broadcasting
experience that includes covering such events as Neil
Armstrong's landing on the moon and the Vietnam War. The author
of three books, including his most recent, Second Thoughts:
One Hundred Upbeat Messages for Beat-Up Americans, he is
greatly in demand as a motivational speaker.
Mort's
Messages:

HOW TO HOLD IT TOGETHER WHEN THE WORLD IS FALLING APART
Rising fears over terrorism. A sagging economy. Anthrax anxiety.
Wars and threats of wars. These are fears that resonate with all
of us these days. And as if all these big worries aren't enough,
consider the personal challenges we face. On the job. In our
relationships. Mort Crim has been reporting on this shaky and
uncertain world for nearly four decades. From the stories he's
discovered it is possible to hold life together when everything
around us seems to be falling apart. Not easy -- but possible.
In his speech, Mort blends humor, history, current events and
some of his own heart-felt philosophy into a compelling
"how to" of survival in a scary world.
HOW
TO BE AS TERRIFIC AS YOUR DOG THINKS YOU ARE!
Dogs don't judge. They give unconditional love. It's their
enthusiasm for us--and for life--that's earned them the title
"man's best friend." Once we learn to live without
judging and to give unconditional love, then we become as
terrific as our dogs thought we were all along. Mort uses humor,
first person accounts and compelling stories from his rich
history as a journalist to bring home the point: we CAN be as
terrific as our dogs think we are.
HOW
YOU CAN BECOME RICH WHILE BECOMING WEALTHY
With both serious
stories and humorous anecdotes, Mort presents a compelling case
for those things money can't buy: love, relationships, peace of
mind, contentment, joy, purpose and meaning. He provides first
person accounts of people who acquired material wealth, power
and fame only to discover themselves spiritually impoverished.
The good news is: we can prosper, materially, without losing
those qualities which make life truly rich.
LIVING
POSITIVE IN A NEGATIVE WORLD
It's not easy to stay positive about life while the media
saturates us with negative messages about how bad things are.
But, it is possible. With highly personal accounts as well as
stories gathered from 35 years as a reporter, Mort explains how
we can transcend the gloom and renew hope for the future. This
speech ends with a strong message about the speaker's personal
search for meaning and his own definition of true success.
GETTING
THERE IS EASY- IF YOU KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING
Drawing upon his many years as a commercially rated pilot, Mort
uses flying analogies to chart a course for effective,
successful living. His career as an aviator has included some
bizarre, even hilarious, situations, including the time, as a
student pilot, he got lost and landed in a field to ask the
startled farmer on his tractor how to get home. Though this
speech is filled with fun, it makes a most serious point about
goals and purpose in life.
WHY
"BE YOURSELF" MAY BE THE WORST ADVICE YOU'LL EVER
RECEIVE
To become our best selves, we need to shoot higher. Be inspired
by others. Select strong role models. Drawing upon his unique
experiences as both a journalist and businessman, Mort shares
dramatic and moving stories of people who have become much more
than they were by emulating their heroes.
WHY
THE NEWS MEDIA ARE NOT LIBERAL ENOUGH!
Based upon his 35
years as a reporter, anchor and editor, Mort is convinced the
present day definition of "what is news" is much too
conservative. It must be broadened to include the good news
and the positive accounts of what's happening. Like all of
Mort's speeches, this one is packed with humorous, first
person anecdotes -- including a story about the time Mort
rescued Walter Cronkite from a locked porta-john just minutes
before an Apollo moon launch.
