About Wes
Bleed
Wes Bleed
joined WGN in December 1983 as Assignment Editor, Reporter and
News Anchor. He was named Assistant News Director in September
of 1984. Wes can also be heard providing news reports and other
stories for CLTV and WGN-TV.
For
several years, Wes was the host of Dateline 720, a weekly
news magazine dealing with current events and politics. He has
interviewed hundreds of news makers, including George Bush,
Henry Kissinger, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and Illinois
Governor George Ryan, just to name a few.
Wes
anchored the newscast that won top honors in 1993 from the Radio
and Television News Directors' Association. In 1992 he received
the United Press International award for best feature reporting
in Illinois. His series on the end of single punch voting in
Illinois took top honors from the Associated Press in 1999.
Wes
enjoys speaking to a variety of audiences on such subjects as the media, change and motivation.
He goes beyond the news, helping audiences gain a fresh
perspective on the challenges they face. Wes is a 1980 graduate
of Wheaton College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Speech Communication.
